NIOSH has developed such an enclosure to surround the mechanism housings, thereby reducing the noise that reaches the operator's ear. The enclosure is a modular design with components that can be hand-carried and installed on any Conn-Weld G-Master 1000 vibrating screen, including retrofits. This design can also be modified to adapt to other ...

Sound levels around vibrating screens in coal preparation plants often exceed 90 dB(A). The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is developing noise controls to reduce ...
ENGINEERING NOISE CONTROL ... strongly suggests that when control takes the form of understanding the noise-producing mechanism and changing it to produce a quieter process, as opposed to the use of a barrier for ... Often noise sources are either vibrating surfaces or unsteady fluid flow (air, gas or steam).
Jul 10, 2021 Vibration of large structures (e.g., ventilation ducts, guards on machines, equipment supporting structures, etc.) The sound may be amplified by reflective surfaces that are around the devices. Aerodynamic sources of noise are air or fluid flows through pipes and fans, or as the pressure drops in the air distribution system. Examples include:

Conn-Weld G-Master 1000 dewatering vibrating screen. From the noise sources identified, they developed noise controls to mitigate the sound radiated by the mechanism housings. Ad-ditional noise controls for the screen body will be the subject of future investigations. A horizontal vibrating screen (Fig. 1) is a large machine used to process coal.
Sound levels around vibrating screens in these plants often exceed 90 dB(A). NIOSH is currently developing noise controls for horizontal vibrating screens. To characterize noise sources, NIOSH researchers performed sound pressure level (SPL) measurements on a vibrating screen at their Pittsburgh Research Laboratory.
NIOSH is currently developing noise controls for horizontal vibrating screens. To characterize noise sources, NIOSH researchers performed sound pressure level (SPL) measurements on a vibrating screen at their Pittsburgh Research Laboratory. The results show that the entire screen contributes to noise below 1 kHz and the vibration mechanism ...
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is developing noise controls to reduce noise generated by horizontal vibrating screens. Horizontal vibrating screen noise is dominated by sound radiated from the screen body. NIOSH researchers analyzed a mechanism suspension system that could reduce screen body-radiated noise.
Laboratory testing demonstrates that this noise control suite reduces the A-weighted sound power level of the vibrating screen by 6 dB. To provide a comparison to laboratory results and prove durability, field testing of two noise controls was performed on a vibrating screen in a working coal preparation plant.
